As August and the summer season comes to a close, there's a sense of new beginnings in the air. The start of a new school year often brings more structure to our days—whether or not you’re directly tied to the classroom. Routines shift, priorities sharpen, and there’s a renewed focus as we move toward the final months of the year.
At Promise Community Homes (PCH), this season mirrors our own rhythm. While our work to maintain and improve homes never pauses, there’s a particular momentum as we begin to enter the last quarter—wrapping up projects, planning ahead, and ensuring every decision and update we make continues to support safety, accessibility, and comfort.
New beginnings can take many forms. Sometimes it’s as clear as welcoming residents into a newly purchased home, greeting children at the start of their summer camp, or gathering staff insight and ideas for an energetic three-year strategic plan. Other times, it’s found in the details: a new ramp that means greater independence, a bathroom update that provides improved safety, or brand-new windows and siding that bring stability, comfort, and peace of mind. Each project and program go beyond construction or services. They are an investment in dignity, inclusion, independence, and everyday comfort that represent a fresh start for the people we serve.
As we move through this season of change, we’re grateful for your support in helping us provide not just houses, but forever homes and accessible spaces where individuals with IDD thrive. We invite you to see how each project and program—big or small—reflects the heart of our mission. Together, we’ll keep building on these beginnings, ensuring that every season is one of growth and care! |
Warmly, Matt Elmore Executive Director |

PCH recently closed on a new Jefferson County home, thanks to the help of the Jefferson Foundation and Developmental Disability Advocates (DDA). This house is officially our fifth residence in the area, and we look forward to continued growth!
In a neighborhood near desirable amenities, this home will provide a safe, comfortable environment for up to three adults with IDD. The new residents will be able to thrive in this home for as long as they choose, close to family and friends. |

| A FRESH VIEW ON THE WORLD |
What a difference windows can make!
Shoutout to our friends at Window World of St. Louis for doing a beautiful job installing new windows throughout an already-charming residence. These sliding windows offer increased accessibility and efficiency with crystalline beauty, as seen on this large family room window. The three ladies who live here will enjoy exceptional views for years to come in their forever home! |

For the first time, but certainly not the last, PCH's community center hosted LifeBridge Partnership's St. Louis County Summer Youth Camp, with help from the Dana Brown Charitable Trust. For one week, campers enjoyed crafts, music, games, treats, and visitors from the Waste Connections Sustainability Campus and Tye-Dyed Iguana.
PCH's community center features a fully-accessible gym, indoor therapeutic pool with lifts, outdoor patio with a pavilion, and more. The community center is available to rent for parties, programs, camps, and other events. |

| STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR A NEW ERA |
Earlier this month, the PCH office closed for a day for all staff to participate in an annual retreat focusing on team building and strategic planning for the new year and beyond. Led in the morning by Chief Strategist Ellie Scott, founder of Bayleaf Consulting, PCH staff reflected on the past year, shared our values, and discussed ideas to improve internal practices and community impact, and of course... drank coffee.
Following the engaging and passionate brainstorming session, the afternoon was dedicated to strengthening the camaraderie that helps drive our mission forward. Naturally, we unwound with good, ole' fashioned axe throwing at Hatchet Haus in the Delmar Loop. Everyone had great fun and AXE-cellent aim! |
