Spring Updates & Fresh Starts
|
Spring is here, and with it comes one of our busiest seasons at PCH. Many of our most significant home improvements are now underway—featuring new flooring, accessible bathroom upgrades, fresh paint, whole-home generators, modernized kitchens, and more. Since March 1, nine projects have already been completed, 16 are in progress, and our maintenance team has completed 137 service requests. We could NOT do this without our incredible team! The operations team brings these improvements to life, the development team makes them possible through dedicated funding, and the finance team ensures every detail is supported and paid for along the way.
What we do can sometimes be hard to define, but at its core, this is our programming. Every repair, every update, and every proactive fix helps ensure our residents have safe, affordable, accessible homes where they can live with stability and dignity. Our residents are at the center of it all, and your support makes this work possible. Thank you for being part of it! |
Warmly, Matt Elmore

| With original cabinets and limited counter space, this South County kitchen desperately needed an update.
PCH’s maintenance team installed new cabinets and added a range microwave, creating more usable space for everyday meal prep. Projects like these do more than enhance how our homes look. They help ensure each forever home remains safe, functional, affordable, and thoughtfully maintained for MANY years to come. |

| Spring storms in St. Louis can bring sudden and severe power outages—something that can be critical for many PCH residents who rely on electricity for daily support.
This generator, installed at our newest home, helps ensure residents stay safe, comfortable, and secure when outages occur.
Generous support from the Productive Living Board (PLB) made this possible, with Bates Electric installing the system.
We’re working toward a future where every home has this added layer of security. |

| Not every doorway we widen has a door, like this cased opening, but these updates are just as important for accessibility.
Three residents enjoy living here, two of them for more than a decade, and the uneven floors and narrow passageway to their bedrooms and bathrooms were becoming increasingly difficult to navigate.
PCH’s maintenance team widened the opening from 30 inches to 42 inches, and Reinhold Flooring installed new, consistent flooring throughout the home. Every room was also freshly painted in whites and soft grays before the floors went in, giving the interior a bright, refreshed feel.
This is our mission—keeping every forever home accessible, affordable, and well-maintained. Now this home is safer and more comfortable, with smooth transitions that eliminate previous trip hazards. |

Executive Director Matt Elmore recently traveled to Washington, D.C., for the 2026 Housing Policy Forum hosted by the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC).
At the forum, Matt connected with leaders from across the country to discuss advocacy, best practices, and advancing affordable housing for low-income and historically marginalized communities—a priority that aligns with PCH’s Strategic Plan goal of strengthening Community Partnerships & Visibility.
A highlight of the trip was putting that advocacy into action on Capitol Hill, where Matt met with six congressional offices to share PCH’s perspective and elevate the housing needs and challenges faced by adults with IDD. |
