Promise Community Homes is honored to support the foundational needs of residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities through safe, affordable, and well-maintained neighborhood homes. However, because our primary responsibility is caring for the structure of each house, it’s not often that we get to see the people behind our mission, up close, and all together.

That's what makes our annual resident picnic so special. This past weekend, we welcomed residents from PCH homes, their direct service providers, and community friends to the PCH campus for a fun afternoon barbecue. The resident picnic is a favorite event among staff, offering one of the few chances all year to witness firsthand why this work matters so deeply. 

There’s nothing like seeing residents who return to the picnic year after year—happy, healthy, thriving—because they continue to live in a home they truly call their own year after year. Moments like these remind us what a privilege it is to support the foundation for independent, safe, and dignified lives through the promise of forever homes. 

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who volunteered and helped make this year's picnic possible. We hope it offered a meaningful glimpse into our mission, and we'll see you all again next year!

Last month, Promise Community Homes closed on another house in Jefferson County!

This purchase brings our Jefferson County home count to 6, and (most importantly) will be the new forever home for up to three adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

We couldn't continue to increase our service to adults with IDD in Jefferson County without great partners such as Developmental Disability Advocates and the Jefferson Foundation.

Recently, one of our homes experienced a small fire.

We are deeply grateful that everyone in the house evacuated quickly and safely with no injuries. But unfortunately, significant damage to the inside of the home means the interior must be completely gutted and rebuilt.

Instead of just restoring what was there, we see this as an opportunity to reimagine the space with accessibility and inclusivity at its heart. With the help of our amazing partners at Trivers, this house will soon be equipped with widened doorways, accessible bathrooms, smooth flooring, and more.

What could have been just a setback is becoming a house designed intentionally for the people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who will soon call it home.
